#96 - The Story of a Cheat (1936)

July 24, 2018

This film is stylistically interesting for being told almost entirely with voice over. It is in line with the French cinematic tradition of the time to talk about hard hitting topics and discuss the moral issues within the story being told so directly. The film was a little lavish in its nature and slightly superficial but that served the point of contrasting the “profession” of the main character, a crook, with the environments he found himself in, upstanding wealthy environments.
