This film is quite silly but still a lot of fun. It's a classic Screwball Romantic Love Triangle story of a woman having to pick the right man for her as they all compete for her attentions. It makes sense that the public hated Katherine Hepburn for the time. She was not a weak woman like Joan Fontaine in Rebecca who is constantly crying and letting herself be taken by a man. She is a strong, independent and feisty woman who challenges all the men around her and in a way emasculates them by taking the power back for herself. This film also addresses the changing social norms but in a way that shows how society has shifted to expect women to be subservient to men.
Cary Grant and Jimmy stewart both shine in this film. They are charismatic, strong and honestly command more respect onscreen than Katherine Hepburn. She comes off quite annoying in a way in this film. She comes off selfish, admittedly so as her character states in the film, narcissistic and whiny in a really bad way.
