A strange RKO Horror film. Honestly, I liked this the least of the Horror pictures from this period. The story was kind of lame and creeps along at a very slow, difficult to watch pace. And the heightened tension was a little obvious and ruined by the blatant music cues.
The lighting is definitely part of the Film Noir twist of throwing shadows on the wall behind subjects. Using shadows and light and dark pretty literally to suggest horror or impending doom. The subject matter is pretty dark as a film again being part of this WW2 shift into making movies about the dark side of mankind.
