This is the first slapstick comedy film on the list. So far we've seen film develop from a place of theater/stage Buster Keaton is hysterical. The gimmick with the waterfall is crazy. The stunts are really unbelievable in this film. Keaton is a genius of capturing your attention organically, the stunts aren’t thrilling outright, they are thrilling in as much as we care for the character undergoing that experience. We care a lot for Keaton, and Chaplin for that matter. But with Keaton we know he will get out alright, whereas Chaplin may find himself killed. This guy is one of the early stuntsman of history, the Jackie Chan’s, Steven Segal, of his time
Definitely in line with the concept of film as a voyeuristic medium, a spectacle to be viewed.
